Do you want to build your confidence working with numbers at home if you feel you missed out on Maths in school? 

Do you not feel confident with calculation in the workplace, for example if you work with Excel? 

It covers percentages, decimals, converting decimals to fractions and to percentages.

Philosophy (Unaccredited with the option to work towards accreditation in the future) 

The course encourages discussion and critical analysis, and examines questions such as:  

What is goodness? Does God exist? What is Knowledge? Does life have meaning? 

The course will look at some of the ideas of major philosophers such as Plato, Aquinas, Descartes, Hume, Nietzsche, de Beauvoir and Camus. 

The course begins in September and finishes at the end of May. There will be two classes a week, one face to face and one on-line class. 

If you want QQI accreditation, you must complete two essays (approximately five pages each) and sit an exam at the end of the course. Approximately 50% of marks are for continuous assessment and 50% for exams.

Who is this course for: 

This course will give you expert skills in word processing that may be used in work or further study. You will be able to use more of the tools in Microsoft Word to create and change a variety of documents.  

You will need to have good experience with Microsoft Word or QQI Level 4. You will need good computer skills, such as copying and pasting, saving and printing documents.  

 What will you learn in this course: 

  • You will learn about creating different kinds of word documents for work and everyday situations:  
  • Layout and design of your documents including fonts, tables, graphics and other features  
  • Creating documents for mailing and producing labels  
  • Proof reading including tracking changes, spellcheck and thesaurus.  
  • Ways to save and print your documents using different tools in Word
