Check the gallery on the website for more photos
‘Making Visible’ was launched by poet Paula Meehan at Coláiste Íde, Finglas.
Over 200 adult students from the Finglas and Cabra Adult Education Service ranging in age from 18-90 took part in this celebration of the work of community art and craft groups funded and delivered by the CDETB Adult Education Service.
Making Visible was designed to showcase the range of creative skills in CDETB Arts related courses in Finglas and Cabra. Many of these courses are run in cooperation with local Community Groups, Disability Organisations and Home/School/Community Liaison Coordinators.
The event was directed by Kevin Smullen and produced by our art tutor Claire Behan with support of another art tutor Olwyn Colgan.
This exhibition displayed the skills and talents of local people in fine art, sculpture, ceramics, sewing, knitting, collage, appliqué and mosaics. Writers from the creative writing groups read poetry and short stories, Visitors got a chance to see some live demonstrations of some of the crafts offered in CDETB classes.
Forever Young Chorus fabulous as always and their band entertained with song and dance.
Paula read several poems including her famous ‘My Father Perceived as a Vision of St. Francis’.
Later, Forever Young Chorus sang ‘The Moons’ based on a poem specially written for them by Paula.
Over €1,000 was raised by CDETB Adult Education students through selling art work and donations at the Making Visible exhibition for LauraLynn Children’s Hospice.
Thanks so much to all the students and staff who donated artworks for sale.
